Common Ground has been published since 2006 by the Southgate Public Interest Research Group. SPIRG is the first community-based public interest research group in Canada. The volunteer board is elected once a year at a public annual meetings held in the autumn, historically at Swinton Park hall.
The cost to join SPIRG membership is a nominal $10.00 lifetime fee. By joining, you support the ongoing work of publishing Common Ground, public events such as SPIRG's annual corn roast, and community meetings aimed at advancing discussion on the subject of the public interest in Southgate Township of Grey County ON.
A key focus of SPIRG board-members is to act as an editorial committee - identifying topics of interest and developing research and perspectives on these for publication in Common Ground. We're interested in expanding our board, and if you are interested in this kind of activity, we'd love to hear from you. To become a member, to suggest a story topic, to provide feedback on something you've read here, or to offer your time as a volunteer, you can contact us through the web form on the right side of this page.
